Help! My dog always bark at small animals.?

my dog loves to bark at squirrels, opossum, and other small animals (but not birds) especially at night. Whenever she barks she will ignor almost anything, so i can't really control her. Usually I'll have to lure her with cheese in order to get her back in the the house. I know thats not the right thing to do, but i can't see her in the dark. Her constant barking is making one of my neighbor really mad. Tonight he actully shouted at me from his yard (he also did that once in the summer), and I am extremely afraid that he's going to call the animal control on me. I cannot live with out my dog! She is my stress reliever, yet paradoxically, she is causeing my neighbor stress!
